Hi, my name is Maria Luisa Cox. I am a Licensed Message Therapist (License No. 5462) and have been practicing since 2002. I am also a Peak Pilates® Comprehensive Certified Instructor and have taught Pilates since 2012. This Pilates certification requires over 500 hours of training and includes Mat, Reformer, as well as Chair and Barrel.
I use a wide variety of massage therapy techniques including AIS (Active Isolated Stretching), Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue, MET (Muscle Energy Technique), and others that allow me to customize each session to meet each individual's needs.

About Massage

Some people think that massage must hurt to help, but massage doesn't have to be painful to be effective. A skilled therapist has a vast of toolbox of techniques that can be incorporated based on your needs and these techniques will be modified based on the client's feedback.
About Pilates
Pilates is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body. What distinguishes Pilates from other exercises format with a similar description (like yoga), are the key principles that guide the Pilates exercises.

MASSAGE
Therapeutic Massage
The session will start with an assessment of the client's current condition. Therapeutic Massage targets the underlying structures of the body that may cause pain and restrictions.
It will help decrease and manage pain, alleviates tension, and increase mobility and function . During the session, a variety of manual therapy modalities will be used such as Muscle Energy Technique, Myofascial Release, positional release, PNF Stretching, Trigger point Therapy, Deep Tissue. These techniques are used to prevent, and reduce injuries throughout the body as well as faster recovery in the event of an injury.
Therapeutic massage helps with headaches, frozen shoulder, TMJ, back pain, knee pain, plantar fasciitis, sport injuries, etc.

PILATES
Private Sessions
Private sessions (one client with one Pilates Instructor) offer an individually tailored workout utilizing the full system of Pilates equipment, including the Reformer, Chair, Cadillac, Mat, Barrels. This variety of Pilates equipment will help strength your body, build up your core, improve flexibility and you are going to have fun doing it!
With Private Sessions you'll have personalized attention, and are tailored to support all of your fitness goals.

Sports Massage
Semi-Private Sessions
It focuses on techniques designed to enhance athletic performance. Post event massage is designed to speed recovery following competition. Helps prevent delayed onset muscle soreness, helps shorten recovery time following exercise.
Pre event massage is administered as part of a regular warm-up routine prior to competition. The massage consists of moderate pressure strokes designed to warm and stretch the tissues.
It incorporates stretching and ROM for recovery for pre or post activity.
$85 / session

Maintenance Massage
Is the massage protocol to be used on a regular basis to help maintain the health and function of muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Maintenance massage, administered regularly, enables an athlete to train more effectively by preventing potentially serious overuse problems and by maximizing recovery on rest days. Because the athlete recovers more fully, she/can train more consistently and at a higher level, resulting in enhanced performance.

Group Classes
Pilates Mat Classes - A great total body workout! The Pilates Mat is the foundation of the Pilates Method. The Pilates Mat work will improve core strength, trunk stability, flexibility, control, coordination, balance, posture. The classes include balls & props.

Swedish Massage
Relaxing strokes, given with light to firm pressure. A combination of techniques are used such as effleurage, petrissage, vibration, friction. These techniques are smooth in application, increasing circulation, and lymphatic processes in the tissue.

This type of massage uses slow, deep pressure and strokes to target the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues.
